It is said that the faculty of TCET is efficient. There are experienced professors and young teaching staff onboard. The teachers are cooperative and are involved in student affairs. They guide through several academic as well as co-curricular activities. Many of the faculty members possess Master's or other advanced degree qualifications and work in their respective areas for research and development.
However, some of the criticisms noted challenges, such as staff weaknesses in some areas that would contradict individualized attention to students.

TCET has many extracurricular activities and clubs for campus life. The students engage in cultural events such as singing, dancing, literature, drama, and art. The results are available on the college website or through the Anna University website since the college is affiliated with it. As for now, Thiruvalluvar College of Engineering and Technology has begun having a strong alumni network flourishing in many fields. Even though the individual names are not advertised many do join reputed organizations like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant and Infosys etc. Some of them have gone for post graduate studies in reputed universities and others have gone for business in which many have opted for IT, engineering, and manufacturing industries. Thus, alumni meets are conducted in the college to acknowledge their efforts and help motivate present learners.

During the B.E./B.Tech application process at Thiruvalluvar College of Engineering and Technology, the required documents include:

1. Class 10 and 12 mark sheets.

2. Transfer Certificate (TC).

3. Community Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC etc.).

4. Nativity Certificate, if any for the employee.

5. Application form for TNEA and counselling call letter.

6. Passport-sized photographs.

7. Photo identity card that is Aadhaar card or any card that has an address.

8. Income Certificate (Scholarship needed, if any).

Thiruvalluvar College of Engineering and Technology provides the admission qualifying standard or cutoff marks of the respective course category. TNEA counseling and the number of seats available decide the cutoff for B.E/B.Tech generally lies between 110-140 for the general category. Hence for SC/ST and OBC and other reserved categories, the cutoff marks vary from 85 to 120. Passing standards also differ annually depending on some ways like the student ratio, desire, accomplishment, and number of openings for any college or university course.

Yes, it is possible to secure Management Seat in Thiruvalluvar College of Engineering and Technology directly through the management quota. For this, you are required to fulfil minimum admission criteria which are qualifying 10+2 examination with the percentage of marks as specified by various B.E/B.Tech institutions in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There are openings for candidate's direct admission under management seats for the candidates who could not get a seat in TNEA counseling, but the fee will be comparatively higher.
