The requirement of entrance exam varies course-wise at University of Mysore. The university considers scores in CAT, MAT, Karnataka PGCET, GATE, etc. for admission to specific courses. The university also conducts Postgraduate Entrance Exam (PGEE) for admission to PG courses. The selection for courses such as MCom, M.Ed, etc. is merit-based.

Aspirants having optional English in BA/ BSc, BA Performing Arts/ BA B.Ed (Regional Institute of Education) degree or PG Diploma in English of the university with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST/ Cat-I language English students are not eligible to apply for admission or to appear for entrance test for MA English.

Aspirants who have passed BCom/ BBM/ BBA from UOM or any other university with at least 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST/ CAT-I candidates) are eligible to apply for MCom programme at University of Myore. Candidates should have relevant documents proving their eligibility for verification at the time of admission.

Yes, Mysore University Library is known to be the largest and most historical library in South India. For the holistic development of the students, the university has a separate cell called the Directorate of Physical Education, which looks after the sports-related events. The University of Mysore sports facilities include three cricket grounds, four tennis courts, a cinder track, three basketball courts, etc. It also has Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Gangotri Glades, and three indoor stadiums. A well-equipped large gymnasium and a well-maintained swimming pool are also available for the students to focus on their physical health.

The University of Mysore has 19 hostels, out of which 9 are exclusively for postgraduate students and 9 are for undergraduates. These 18 hostels provide both accommodation and dining facilities to students of UG, PG, Diploma, M.Phil, and PhD programmes. All the hostels are under the surveillance of CCTV cameras for the safety and security of the students. Newspaper facilities for the convenience of the hostel students in university hostels are also available.
