The University of Ottawa admissions generally have only one intake for undergraduate programs and two intakes for postgraduate programs. In Fall 2023, the university received 83,063 undergraduate applications and 16,552 graduate applications, resulting in 9,405 undergraduate and 2,721 graduate enrolments. Giving the Ottawa acceptance rate of 11.3% for UG programs, and 16.4% for PG programs. The placement rates make it a difficult university to get into.

- Go to ByWard market
- Try out shopping near Bayshore Mall, Rideau Mall and Tanger Outlets

Students starting their first semester at the uOttawa must keep the following things in mind:
- Attend the orientation / homecoming events
- Create a formal routine to manage the classes and personal routine
- Find the space for studies in the campus so that there is no distraction
- Get to know the city. Explore the museums, capital building, cafes, etc.
- Try to attend all the classes and make notes
