University of Pittsburgh Eligibility

According to the University of Pittsburgh's official website, International students seeking admission to the university must be part of the top 10% of their class in high school or have attained an unweighted GPA of 3.8 if they're an undergraduate student and a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for graduate students.

Note: The requirements mentioned above are only the general GPA requirements that are subject to vary for admission to different courses. 

International students must fulfill the eligibility criteria to be admitted to any programme at the University of Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh University requirements for UG and PG for international students are given below:

Undergraduate requirements:

The University of Pittsburgh expects a minimum cumulative GPA of 2 for undergraduates and 3 for Postgraduates on a scale of 4. The GPA is a numeric indication of a student’s academic achievements on a grade-point scale. International students must try to score above the required GPA as it has a high weightage during selection. Along with the GPA, standardized test scores, English language proficiency scores, and personal statements are equally crucial and can impact the probability of Pitt selection.

The University of Pittsburgh acceptance rate is 49%. This showcases that the university follows moderate selection criteria during admission. To gain Pittsburgh admission, international students must provide excellent academic performance including high school scores, standardized test scores, English language proficiency scores, and more. In addition, the university also expects to have some prior relevant experience and participation in extracurricular activities. As per the enrollment in 2024, over 58,000 students applied at the university, out of which 4,549 students enrolled in the programs.
