- The candidates are interviewed to determine the aptitude for taking up the degree and are selected on the basis of their performance in the interview and their PUC ranking.
- The candidate should be 17 years of age (minimum) as on 31st December.

For candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks required in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test are lower than those for the general category. The minimum marks for eligibility are:- 50th percentile for general category candidates- 40th percentile for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes candidates- 45th percentile for candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs.
