For hands-on training, the institute comprises divisions for microsurgery, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and hand surgery. Excellent clinical exposure is provided by the 1400 bed tertiary care hospital that is attached to it. The faculty consists of assistant professors and seasoned professors with a range of specializations. With a focus on problem-based learning, the institute uses a credit-based system. Students plan frequent medical camps so they can gain practical experience. Over the years, Saveetha has graduated a large number of accomplished physicians and graduates. In the past few years, the pass rate for final year MBBS exams has hovered between 95 and 99%. Undergraduates have a rather good average placement history throughout time.
