The aim of the written test of JMI Entrance Exam for M.A. Mass Communication subject is to test the knowledge and aptitude of the candidate and to ascertain the fact that the applicant is suitable for the course. The question paper of Mass Communication subject is divided into two parts. Part A is based on multiple choice questions and Part B is based on descriptive questions.

In Part A, questions related to national and international political issues/personalities, General Knowledge, Film, Television and other media and Art, Literature and culture are asked. Whereas, the descriptive paper comprises of essay type long answers which reflect the candidates' critical understanding of contemporary issues and the media. This paper also evaluates candidates' skill in visualization, story-telling and their creative aptitude. Candidates qualifying the written examination and shortlistted for interview will be required to send e-portfolios.
