As per the latest notification released by the Punjab Government, the closure of all educational institutions in the state has been extended.

All schools and colleges in Punjab will now remain shut till April 10, 2021. As per the latest notification released by the Punjab Government, the closure of all educational institutions in the state has been extended. Earlier, the government had closed the schools, colleges and all educational institutions in the state until March 31.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday ordered an extension of all the restrictions that had been put in place in the state on March 17. This order is applicable for all private, government and aided schools as well as coaching classes, polytechnic institutes and degree colleges and universities. Punjab is among the top 6 states reeling from a particularly rapid ‘second’ wave of infections. In the last 24 hours, Punjab reported as many as 2,868 new infections, taking the total active cases to 24,143 as of March 30, 2021. The state also reported 59 deaths on March 29.

With the infections rising steadily, the state had decided on March 19 to close all schools and colleges. The Punjab School Education Board, PSEB had also postponed the PSEB Board Exams 2021 for PSEB 10th and PSEB 12th class. Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has revised the PSEB 10th date sheet 2021 on March 15. The exams will now be conducted between May 4 and May 24 while the Class 12 exams scheduled from March 22 were pushed to April 20.

There is no further change announced as yet in the board examination schedule. The decision on reopening schools would be reviewed on April 10.
