Goa schools to reopen for Classes 9 to 12 from October 18

Goa government has planned to reopen schools in a phased manner and the decision to reopen the schools was taken by the task force set by the state for COVID management.

Goa School Reopening: The government of Goa has announced its decision to reopen the schools for the students from class 9 to 12 from Monday, i.e. October 18, 2021. According to the Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant, the government has planned to reopen schools in a phased manner and the decision to reopen the schools was taken by the task force set by the state for COVID management.

Talking about the conduct of offline classes, the minister further added that conducting offline classes for four classes in phases would be easier as the schools for the students until Class 8 were closed until now. Considering the ongoing pandemic situation, the state government has decided to function school following all the precautionary and safety measures. COVID-19 protocols for the reopening of the schools will be followed. The director of education will be sharing the SOPs for school reopening which is to be followed by the students and staff equally.

The expert committee formed by the state government stated that the government must reopen the schools for the students from Class 9, 10, and higher classes. The Parent-Teacher Association and Teachers Council of Dr KB Hedgewar High School conducted a rally in the capital followed by a demonstration at Azad Maidan demanding offline classes and exams.

Meanwhile, the government has already given orders to higher secondary schools to conduct offline exams for the students from Classes 11 and 12 while students have also demanded classes 9 and 10 exams to be conducted offline as well. Students also stated that online exams do not provide an accurate representation of the academic level of a particular student.
