IISM Announces ‘The Edge’ Unique Course for Working Professionals
The IISM - International Institute of Sports Management(IISM) has launched the IISM Edge programme in order to give working professionals an opportunity to explore their unexplored abilities. The course aims to improve leadership skills, advise and empower professionals with the skills necessary for success in their career. This will also help them in learning how to manage the “Art of loss” and “Cope with failure”.
The course will provide profound expertise for mid- and senior management through seminars and lectures by industry experts from the field of sports and business. The course was founded by former Indian Test Cricketer Nilesh Kulkarni and established by former managing partner JWT Tarun Chauhan.
The duration of the course is nine months and classes are held on weekends for seven hours. The Edge will concentrate on subjects, including critical thinking, data-driven decision making/data for decision making, persuasion power, active and passive listening, conflict management, time and stress management, body language, preparation and execution, negotiations and leadership skills.
Eminent sports and industry personalities such as Founder TC Consultancy Tarun Chauhan; Ex India Hockey Captain and CEO of Olympic Gold Quest Athlete Deepa Malik; and CEO of Capstone People Consulting Viren Rasquinha will be part of this course.
The candidate must have a degree and a minimum of five years of experience in order to be eligible for the course. The middle level management aspiring to be future CEO and COO is also the target audience. The candidates are chosen by an internal committee and the final candidates are selected through an on-campus interview.
Speaking on the idea behind the Course, Founder, IISM Nilesh Kulkarni, said, "Your strengths are your assets, but if you know your weakness, they become your strengths."
The admissions for the Edge course are currently on and the first batch will start from February 1, 2019.

IISM is better for a Bachelors in Sports Management due to its strong industry connections, better recognition in India, and a well-established alumni network. Ironwood is good for international exposure but has limited recognition. If you want a full-fledged degree program, IISM is a better choice.
