Supreme Court of India received an affidavit from Defence Ministry mentioning that girls can study in military colleges and schools. According to the affidavit, the Centre is making arrangements to admit female students to Rashtriya Indian Military College and five Rashtriya Military Schools. However, the schools will commence enrolment of girls from the next academic session.

However, from now on girls will be allowed to study in military colleges and schools present across the country. An entrance exam will be conducted for admissions to Rashtriya Indian Military College from next year onwards. As per the affidavit, in the first phase, RIMC would increase the intake capacity from 250 to 300. The process would include inducting five girls every six months.
