Studying at a UK board will help us securing jobs easily in the automobile sector, says Arpan Nandi

I always loved sketching cars since childhood and always wanted to be a car designer, my aim was clear that I am going to do Automobile Engineering. After Class 10 exams, when I got the opportunity for the Automobile Diploma, I couldn’t say no.

When I approached for admission and after looking at my marks in English subject, they suggested me that I am worthy of pursuing the same from Rustomjee Academy for Global Careers, Thane (Pearson board of UK). They took me through the counselling session by asking various questions and also tested my English-speaking skills and vocabulary. And afterwards, they told me that they also had this Pearson programme in the UK and I can take the admission. As the admissions were direct, I didn’t undergo any entrance exam and so I did not join any coaching classes. Parallel to this, I also tried for Muchhala Polytechnic, Saboo Siddik and DY Patil.

At college, from 7-10 am we have practical classes only. As per the topic, we learn to dismantle gearbox and other functionalities and then assemble it. Then from 10.30 am-1.30 pm we have our three theory lectures in the classroom. I like to attend the practical classes in the morning as we do the dismantling and the assembly with our bare hands and enjoy the most doing it. I am also an active participant in many extra-curricular activities including the class painting. The teaching pedagogy at Person Rustomjee always focus on helping student’s become gentleman and responsible citizen of the country. The starting first week was all about grooming sessions and gave us a lot of practical knowledge. As fas as the curriculum is concerned, we are studying in a UK board, this will help us in securing jobs easily in the automobile sector.

I aspire to be a car designer which requires a lot of other technical skills so along with the regular curriculum, I have also done three software courses - Catia, AutoCAD, Nx CADD and ongoing with  Ansys.

I also wish to opt for a degree course at Rustomjee as it has tie-up with the University of Wolverhampton.
