Telangana School Education Department has announced that it has decided to launch a 100-day reading campaign for students of Classes 1 to 9 across the state from today. The main aim behind the campaign is to instill reading habits as well as to improve basic reading skills among students.

Schools will have to allocate one library period for the selected classes, as per the reports. The schools have been directed to form a committee of five students for each class in high school and for primary school. The task of the committee would be to monitor the reading habits of students, issue books and maintain their records. It will also display a list of fluent readers to encourage other students.

Schools will reportedly have been instructed to organize a library week from February 14 to 21 and celebrate Mother Language Day on February 21.
