Here is the edited excerpt of the conversation:

Q: What is the admission process of Alliance University? And, what is the eligibility criteria?

A: The admission process includes four stages:

  • Application Screening
  • Interview / Group Discussion / Qualifying Exam
  • Counselling Session
  • Cut off / Results

To be eligible for admission to the MBA programme at Alliance University, the applicant must have an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent (45 per cent for SC/ST category) in any discipline. The eligible aspirants can fill up the online application form with a nominal fee of Rs 1,000 (Rs 2,000 for NRI and SAARC national applicants and $50 for the other foreign national applicants).

It is mandatory for the applicants to undergo one of the nationally accepted qualifying exams for MBA programme such as GMAT, CAT, NMAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, KMAT and Alliance Management Aptitude Test (AMAT).

Q: When is the last date to apply? And, how is the institute conducting the admission process amid this current pandemic situation?

A: Amid the current pandemic situation due to Covid-19, the complete admission process has been moved online. The students can fill the application form online. Applicants, who have already appeared for qualifying exam, can use their scores and the ones you are yet to appear can either apply for MAT exam to be conducted in May or can apply for AMAT. Basis the results, the applicants will be called for a telephonic or virtual interview session. All the applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their performance in all the rounds.

The admissions are open and the seats are limited. We have a student intake of 400. And, the classes will commence from the first week of July.

Q: What are the different specialisations offered in the MBA programme?

A: The University offers a bouquet of specialisations to students. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) course curriculum consists of general management subjects, core subjects and elective subjects that reflect the student's chosen area of specialisation – Marketing, Finance, Organisational Leadership and Strategy (OB & HR), Operations, Retail, Banking and Financial Services, Hospitality, Entrepreneurship and Family Business, International Business and Communications.

Q: What is the fee structure for the MBA programme at Alliance University? Does college offer any scholarships or loan assistance?

A: The total cost of the two-year MBA programme is Rs 13.5 lakh, including the registration and tuition fee which can easily be paid in three equal installments over the course duration. The University offers scholarships to top scorers of MAT and NMAT exam.

We also provide loan assistance to students as we have tie-ups with all nationalised banks. Disbursal of loans is at the discretion of bank basis the credit history.

Q: Is there any hostel facility on campus?

A: We do provide on-campus accommodation to students. The students can choose between single occupancy and double occupancy basis their preference.

There is a security deposit of Rs 13,000 which is completely refundable at the end of the programme with one-time deposit of Rs 2,000 which is non-refundable.

The fee for single-occupancy accommodation is Rs 96,000 and Rs 81,000 for double-occupancy for a period of six months.

Q: Can you share some insights on the placement trends?

A: We are known for a track record of excellent placements. We have a strong network of over 380 recruiters that includes Tata Consultancy Services, United Breweries Limited, TVS, TeamLease, Synopsys, LG, ANZ Support Services, Hiranandani Upscale, Cadbury India Limited and Aditya Birla.

The university witnessed the highest package of Rs 22.6 LPA and an average package of Rs 7.6 LPA in the last placements season. Synopsys offered the highest package of worth Rs 12 lakh to HR students. We created over 5,200 opportunities last year. 

Q: What actions have been taken by the University to drive better campus placements?

A: The ROI of any management institute can be evaluated on the basis of quality placements. We have a dedicated in-house placements department that provides end to end placement support. The Office of Career Advancement and Networking works in synchronisation with various industry verticals to create a robust interface with industry. Apart from internships and placements, the following are regular activities for our students that helps them to prepare well for the corporate world:

  • In-plant training
  • Corporate events
  • Industry exposure visits
  • Certificate programmes
  • Live projects

Q: Does University also offers any value-added courses?
