NIFM Faridabad renamed Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management

The Union Government of India has decided to give a new title to the National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM), Faridabad. Now it will be called Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM). This has been done to bring into line the vision and aspiration of the organisation for the future with the vision and impact of late Arun Jaitley, former Union finance minister and Padma Vibhushan awardee, as per a statement from the Union Government. Mr Jaitley had functioned as the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs during the period May 26, 2014 to May 30, 2019.

NIFM, Faridabad, was established in the year 1993 as a listed society under Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, with the objective of imparting training to officers of several Finance and Accounts Services hired by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) by means of the Civil Services examination as also officers of Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS). The Union Finance Minister serves as the president of the NIFM society. In the domains of Public Procurement, Public Policy, Financial Management and related governance matters for stimulating the highest standards of professional capability and practice, the institute has become a foremost resource centre to cater to the training requirements of Central government for senior and middle level of administration.

NIFM also offers services to Defence establishments, Banks, the State Governments, other Financial Institutions, and PSUs. It has gone beyond training into the domain of management education and runs various AICTE approved programmes leading to Post Graduate Diplomas in Management, in several domains of Financial Management.
