CBSE 10th topper Shivadev Ranjul scored 98.4% by focusing on NCERT and regular revision. He said smart planning, staying calm and neat answer writing is his key to success.
CBSE Class 10 Topper 2026: Shivadev Ranjul, scored 98.4% and shared that his preparation revolved around NCERT books, which he considered base for all subjects. Instead of rote learning, he focused on clearly understanding each concept, which made it much easier to revise later. He also made short notes during his preparation, which helped him quickly revise before exams.
During CBSE 10th board exam period, Shivadev focused more on regular revision rather than starting anything new. He made sure to get proper sleep and stay calm, as he believes a relaxed mind helps in better performance. He also followed a smart study plan. According to him, writing neat and well structured answers played important role in scoring high marks.
Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing CBSE 10th results?
A: On seeing 10th result, I was happy and satisfied that my hard work had paid off.
Q: Please tell us something about your family background?
A: Both my parents are engineers, and they motivate me to do my best and perform well in all aspects of life.

Q: Which subject did you find most challenging, and how did you overcome it?
A: For me, it was English. With effort and preparation, I was able to identify my weaknesses and I worked on them.
Q: How important were NCERT books in your preparation? Did you use any additional resources?
A: NCERT books are like the Bible of board exams. I spent most of my time on NCERT books as they were baseline. I used other resources like Oswaal Books, RS Aggarval, Educart, All in One etc.
Q: What was your strategy to score 98%?
A: Achieving 98.4% was a combination of smart preparation and time management. I covered 3 to 4 subjects in one day, with more time for my weak areas and regular short breaks.
For theoretical subjects like science, I worked on understanding concepts. This helped in revision. I made short notes. During exams, I focused on revision, sleep and staying calm.
Q: Did you follow any specific strategy for revision in last 1 to 2 months?
A: Yes, in last two months I shifted almost completely to revision and practice. I followed a two-phase plan, in first month I revised complete syllabus and in final month, I focused on sample papers, previous year questions and fixing my weak areas.
Q: During your CBSE board preparation, what did your daily routine look like, and how many hours did you spend studying on average?
A: During board preparations, I valued efficiency and effectiveness rather than duration. I would wake up early and study. In a day, I would study for around 3 to 4 hours. I was able to achieve this with short study hours because of consistent 1-hour study each day from the start of year.
Q: What is your favourite subject?
A: Mathematics is my favourite subject. I have been deeply passionate about it since an early age.
Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming?
A: My next goal is to work hard and ace my class 11th and 12th exams. In parallel, I am preparing for IPMAT and Indian Statistical Institute and Chennai Mathematical Institute, along with IISC and Delhi University. I want to major in Maths, finance and statistics.
Q: Please share some tips for students prepping to appear in CBSE Board Exams 2027?
A: As a student preparing for CBSE board exams 2027, I think most important things are smart planning, regular revision and clean answer writing. I focus on understanding NCERT properly, solving previous years’ papers, and improving my writing speed. Revise important diagrams, formulae and definitions regularly.
