Some offer admission on the basis of JEE scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests, and some offer admission on the basis of both. Some even offer direct admission on basis of class 12th marks. Some of the universities also offer scholarships on basis of your performance in class 12th or JEE or their own test. Also, try for lower branches in average colleges. Hope you will get into those. It's better than taking a good branch in low ranked colleges (as the standard of study will not be good there).
