AIFD WAT 2022 - The Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) has concluded the regular admission process for AIFD WAT 2022. The result cum seat allotment for AIFD WAT 2022 was declared on June 10.

However, the institute is now conducting an institute-wise admission process to fill vacant seats. Note that the application for AIFD 2022 admission will be shared with the candidate via email; to receive applicants, the candidate needs to send a request at showing their interest. Admission for the vacant seats will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and is likely to conclude in the last week of August. 

The AIFT WAT 2022 entrance exam  (regular) was conducted in computer-based mode on May 29. Candidates who have been selected need to get registered and pay the institute- and hostel fee by June 30, 2022. 

The AIFD WAT 2022 exam was conducted for admission to BSc Fashion and Apparel Design (FAD) and BSc Interior Design and Decoration courses offered by the institute. The application form of AIFD 2022 closed on May 20. 

What is AIFD WAT?

Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) came into existence in 2004 in Bangalore under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). The college conducts Written Admission Test (WAT) every year in order to provide admission to candidates in Design programmes offered by it. However, since 2021 the AIFD is conducting online admission test (OAT) due to Covid-19. The programmes offered by the institute are given below:

AIFD WAT 2022 Application Process

Candidates need to follow the below mentioned steps to take part in the admission cycle of AIFD WAT 2022.

Step 1: Fill AIFD WAT Application Form

For AIFD WAT registrations, candidates first need to fill the application form in the online mode. For the same, candidates can register themselves on the official website of the institute.

Step 2: Pay the application fee

The AIFD application fee is INR 500, which candidates need to pay online. Thereafter candidates will have to pay INR 1,000 as a late fee.

Step 3: Get AIFD WAT Admit Card

Candidates receive AIFD WAT admit card via email. In case a candidate does not receive AIFD WAT 2022 admit card within the stipulated time, he/ she should approach the principal of AIFD (stating his/her name, address, and application form number) immediately.

AIFD WAT Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the Army Institute of Fashion and Design is for the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible ex Army personnel and wards of war widows/widows of the Army. The children of under mentioned categories of Army personnel are eligible and they are required to submit the relevant certificate as given against the category applicable to them as proof of their eligibility for admission to Army Institute of Fashion and Design along with the Application Form.

1. The applicants must fall into one of the following categories :-

  • Children of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army
  • Children of ex Army personnel granted / awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board / invalid Medical Board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.

2. Adopted / Step Children and Children of Re-married Widows :-

  • Adopted child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission. 
  • Step children are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army who is otherwise eligible.

3. Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases:-

  • Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers / Army Dental Corps Officers Presently Serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (IN / IAF). Wards of only those ex Army medical officers / Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years.

4. Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS / MNS / TA Personnel 

  • Wards of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter.
  • Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
  • Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.
  • Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
  • Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of Embodied Service.
  • Wards of IN and IAF personnel, both serving and retired.
  • Wards of serving personnel of Assam Rifles
  • Wards of civ. Based on a valid NIFT / OAT score of AIFD

Educational Qualification: The applicant must have passed 11th and 12th Std having studied same combination for two years regular students with a minimum of 35% aggregate marks from a board recognized by UGC/University. Candidates who have passed their 10+2 examination as a regular candidate are only eligible for admission to B.Sc. (FAD) and B.Sc (IDD) as per Bengaluru North University norms.

Note: Candidates who have passed through distance education system or privately through NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) have to offer the same combination of subjects in both 11th and 12th Standard. Admission through Online Admission Test (OAT).

Physical Fitness: Besides fulfilling the eligibility conditions, the candidate should be certified by MH / RMO / Registered Medical Practitioner as physically and mentally fit to pursue the course. 

AIFD WAT 2022 Admission Process 

Candidates seeking admission to Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) have to follow the process as under:

Step 1: Appear for AIFD Test

The entrance test for admission to the UG Course offered by AIFD Bangalore, will be held online. The Online Admission Test (OAT) 2022 was held on May 29, from 1430 hrs to 1730 hrs at the notified examination centres. The candidates are required to report at their respective examination centres at 1400 hrs i.e. at least half an hour before the commencement of the OAT.

Step 2: Check AIFD Result

The college will declare AIFD WAT 2022 result on its official website. Shortlisted candidates can secure admission at the college by paying registration fee of INR 10,000 and hostel fee of INR 5,000 within 7 days of AIFD result being published. Students can pay the fee through RTGS/NEFT. No cheque or cash will be accepted. After sending the payment through RTGS/NEFT candidates have to forward an email to with transaction number and details of student for confirmation.

Step 3: Declaration of Final List

Announcement of final list of selected candidates for admission will be published in the institute website.

Test Centres: As the entrance exams will be held online, the detailed address of the centres will be available on the website and the admit cards, once registration is done. Candidates can check AIFD WAT test centres list here.

AIFD WAT 2022 Syllabus 

Army Institute of Fashion and Design (AIFD) has specified some topics for entrance exam. Get detailed infornation about AIFD WAT 2022 syllabus and prepare for the exam accordingly. The MCQs will cover the following topics/subjects: 

  • Intelligence and Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • English Language Competency & Comprehension

Besides the aforementioned topics candidates are also recommended to practice sketching and shading to perform well in the design aptitude questions.

AIFD WAT 2022 Pattern

The AIFD exam pattern is such that the question paper consists of objective-type questions of 100 marks that candidates need to complete in a duration of three hours. Apart from that, the paper also contains short essay type question(s). Subjects from which questions are asked in the exam include Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language Competency & Comprehension. The medium of test is English only. AIFD WAT 2022 Admit Card

The admit card for the OAT will be available for downloading online after registration. In case the admit card is not available online/received by the candidate by 27 May 2022 for OAT he / she should approach Principal, AIFD stating his / her full name, address and his / her application form number so as to facilitate the dispatch of the duplicate admit card (Telephone No of AIFD is 09035316000 / 8792669001).

A. For admissions to four-year UG Fashion and Apparel Design programme, candidates should have passed Class XII with at least 35% aggregate marks from a recognised board. Candidates who pass Class XII through open school or distance education system are not eligible for AIFD admissions. It is to be noted that only children of Army personnel or ex- Army personnel can register for AIFD exam.
