AIFD WAT 2025: Exam DATE, Registratrion OPEN, Syllabus, Pattern, Admission Process

Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) came into existence in 2004 in Bangalore under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). Earlier, the college conducted a Written Admission Test (WAT) every year in order to provide admission to candidates in the Design programs offered by it. Since 2021, the AIFD has been conducting Online Admission Test (OAT). However, for 2025, the AIFD WAT entrance exam has been discontinued by the college authorities.

Note: UG Degree program in Interior Design & Decoration and Fashion & Apparel Design are affiliated to Bengaluru North University. 10% of seats are offered to civilians.

The Army Institute of Fashion & Design has closed the AIFD 2025 application form. To fill out the application form, the candidate had to follow these steps.

Step 1: Get Registered

For AIFD WAT registrations, candidates first need to fill out the application form in online mode. For the same, candidates can register themselves on the official website of the institute. 

Step 2: Pay the application fee

The AIFD application fee is INR 1000, which candidates need to pay online. The last date to apply for AIFD is April 30, 2025.

Step 3: Scheduling of Online Interview

An online interview will be scheduled for the applicants who wish to seek admission in AIFD. Interview dates will be coordinated mutually between the college and the applicant. The date and slot and link will be generated by the college.

Step 4: Interview and Follow-up

The interview will be conducted online. Students are required to read the instructions before appearing for the interview. Candidates will receive communication about their admission status via email or phone. They must ensure that the contact details provided during registration are accurate.

Step 5: Selection and Fee Payment
If selected, candidates must follow the instructions given in the admission confirmation email regarding fee payment, document submission, and orientation.

Documents Required During the Admission Process:

Candidates are required to keep scanned copies (PDF format) of the following documents ready to upload if required during the interview.

1. Class 10th and 12th mark sheets.
2. Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate (if applicable).
3. Proof of eligibility (Army personnel certificate, if applicable).
4. A valid government ID (Aadhaar Card/Passport/PAN).
5. Passport-sized photograph (recent, in JPEG format).
6. Reference detail  

Candidates should also have physical copies of these documents ready for verification during the interview.

AIFD WAT Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the Army Institute of Fashion and Design is for the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible ex-Army personnel, and wards of war widows/widows of the Army. The children of the under-mentioned categories of Army personnel are eligible, and they are required to submit the relevant certificate as given against the category applicable to them as proof of their eligibility for admission to the Army Institute of Fashion and Design along with the Application Form.

1. The applicants must fall into one of the following categories:-

• Children of serving Army personnel with a minimum of 10 years of continuous service in the Army
• Children of ex-Army personnel granted/awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension, or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board / invalid Medical Board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pensions.

2. Adopted / Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows:-

• Adopted child of Army personnel if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission. 
• Stepchildren are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army who is otherwise eligible.

3. Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases:-

• Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers / Army Dental Corps Officers Presently Serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (IN / IAF). Wards of only those ex Army medical officers / Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years.

4. Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS / MNS / TA Personnel 

• Wards of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter.
• Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army.
• Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.
• Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Army.
• Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of Embodied Service.
• Wards of IN and IAF personnel, both serving and retired.
• Wards of serving personnel of Assam Rifles
• Wards of civ. Based on a valid NIFT / OAT score of AIFD

Educational Qualification: The applicant must have passed 11th and 12th Std having studied same combination for two years regular students with a minimum of 35% aggregate marks from a board recognized by UGC/University. Candidates who have passed their 10+2 examination as a regular candidate are only eligible for admission to B.Sc. (FAD) and B.Sc (IDD) as per Bengaluru North University norms.

Note: Candidates who have passed through distance education system or privately through NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) have to offer the same combination of subjects in both 11th and 12th Standard. Admission through Online Admission Test (OAT).

Physical Fitness: Besides fulfilling the eligibility conditions, the candidate should be certified by MH / RMO / Registered Medical Practitioner as physically and mentally fit to pursue the course. 

Candidates seeking admission to Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) have to follow the process as under:

The date and slot and link will be generated by the college. The online interview for provisional admission on submitting the Class X and XI mark sheet (50% minimum) commenced on January 15, 2025. 

Step 4: Interview and Follow-up

The interview will be conducted online. Students are required to read the instructions before appearing for the interview. Candidates will receive communication about their admission status via email or phone. They must ensure that the contact details provided during registration are accurate.

Step 5: Selection and Fee Payment
If selected, candidates must follow the instructions given in the admission confirmation email regarding fee payment, document submission, and orientation. The Merit list will be announced on the official website on May 31, 2025 and the last date of acceptance of offer letter is June 07, 2025.

The following things should be kept in mind before and after appearing for the Online Interview.

Before the Interview

1. Device and Internet Preparation

• Use a laptop or desktop with a working camera and microphone.
• Ensure a stable internet connection with sufficient speed to prevent interruptions.
• Have a backup device (smartphone or tablet) ready in case of technical difficulties.

1. Software and Platform Setup

• The interview will take place on [mention the platform, e.g., Zoom/Google Meet/MS Teams].
• Install and test the platform beforehand.
• Join using the meeting link or ID provided in the email invitation.

    3. Documents Required for AIFD 2025:

        Prepare scanned copies in PDF format of the following documents for upload if required:

4. Preparation for Interview

• Gain a clear understanding of the course you are applying for and be prepared to discuss your interests, skills, and career goals.
• Expect questions such as:
  • What motivated you to pursue a career in fashion?
  • Are you aware of the syllabus and career opportunities in this field?
  • Do you aspire to become a Chef or a Front Office Assistant?
  • How would you describe your communication skills?
  • What do you know about Hotel Management?
• Dress in formal attire to make a positive impression.
• Choose a quiet, well-lit, and distraction-free location for your interview.

During the Interview

1. Joining the Meeting

• Log in 7-8 minutes before the scheduled time.
• Use your full name as the display name for identification.

2. Interview Etiquette

• Keep your camera on throughout the interview.
• Mute your microphone when not speaking to reduce background noise.
• Stay attentive and maintain eye contact by looking at the camera.
• Speak clearly and confidently while answering questions.

3. Interaction and Queries

• Be polite and concise in your responses.
• We understand that you may have several questions.
• Please email your queries in advance so we can provide better responses.
• You will be given an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview—wait for your turn.

4. Handling Technical Issues

• If you experience technical difficulties, inform the interviewer using the contact number or email provided in your invitation.
• Rejoin the meeting as soon as possible.

 

Army Institute of Fashion and Design (AIFD) 2024 has specified some topics for the entrance exam. Get detailed information about AIFD WAT 2025 syllabus and prepare for the exam accordingly. The MCQs will cover the topics/subjects such as Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language Competency & Comprehension Besides the aforementioned topics candidates are also recommended to practice sketching and shading to perform well in the design aptitude questions.

The AIFD exam pattern is such that the question paper consists of objective-type questions of 100 marks that candidates need to complete in a duration of three hours. Apart from that, the paper also contains short essay-type question(s). Subjects from which questions are asked in the exam include Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language Competency & Comprehension. The medium of test is English only. AIFD WAT 2025 exam pattern is given below:

The admit card for the OAT will be available for downloading online after registration. In case the admit card is not available online/received by the candidate, he/she should approach Principal, AIFD stating his / her full name, address, and his / her application form number so as to facilitate the dispatch of the duplicate admit card (Telephone No of AIFD is 09035316000 / 8792669001).
