Here are the latest updates on the Pragati Scholarship for this session. The Pragati Scholarship 2026-27 opened on NSP on June 1. Girls can submit fresh and renewal forms till October 31. Institutes must verify the forms by November 15. New NSP rules also apply from Academic Year 2026-27. They put every NSP scholarship into one of two groups. Merit-based ones are given for marks. Welfare-based ones are given for need. NSP lists Pragati as a merit-based scheme.

Pragati Scholarship Income Limit and Girls per Family

Two simple rules decide who can apply from a family. The total family income from all sources must be INR 8 lakh a year or less. This is checked for the current financial year. The student must upload an income certificate. It must be issued by a State or UT government officer, such as a Tehsildar. Only two girls from one family can get this scholarship.

Pragati Scholarship for Lateral Entry Students

Lateral entry students can also apply for this scholarship. A girl who joins the second year of a degree or diploma through lateral entry can apply. A girl already in the third year cannot apply as a new applicant. Girls at colleges such as Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Osmania University and JNTU Hyderabad can ask their scholarship cell about lateral entry forms.

Gap Period and Other Scholarship Rule

Two more conditions can affect your form. The gap between passing your last exam and joining the course must be two years or less. AICTE also says a Pragati scholar should not get any other scholarship, allowance or salary. Its FAQ says girls already getting a Central, State or AICTE scholarship cannot apply. If a girl gets money from another source, Pragati stops. She must then return the full amount to AICTE.

The new NSP rules say a welfare scholarship will not stop a student from getting a merit scholarship. NSP lists Pragati as merit-based. But AICTE has not changed its own rule on paper yet. So, check with your institute before you take two scholarships.

Pragati Scholarship Amount and Duration

The amount stays the same, but the number of years depends on your course.

The money is paid once a year in one go. Girls at Pondicherry University, Jadavpur University and Delhi Technological University can check the payment details with their college.

There is no extra money for hostel or medical costs. Students do not need to show bills for how they spent the money.

Pragati Scholarship State-wise Seats

AICTE divides the seats among states. A state with more AICTE-approved college seats gets more scholarships. Each state gets at least 50 seats. The top limit is 800 seats for degree and 700 for diploma. If degree seats stay empty, they move to diploma, and the other way round. Pragati Scholarship for North-East States and UTs

Some regions have no seat limit at all. All eligible girls from 13 states and UTs get the scholarship. This is extra, on top of the 5,000 seats. The list is given below.

• States: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura

• Union Territories: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Lakshadweep

Pragati Scholarship Selection Process and Merit List

Selection depends only on your marks in the last exam you passed before the course.

Merit Basis for Degree and Diploma Students

AICTE uses different marks for degree and diploma students.

AICTE makes a separate merit list for each state and UT. Some seats are kept for reserved categories as per Government of India rules. If a reserved seat stays empty, it goes to the General category. Some reserved-category girls make it to the General list on their marks. They are counted as General.

If your marksheet shows CGPA, multiply it by 9.5 to get the percentage. If it shows both CGPA and total marks, the total marks are used.

Rules for Students With Equal Marks

Sometimes two students have the same marks, so AICTE uses these rules.

• Degree: The higher 10th Class percentage ranks first. If there is still a tie, the older student ranks first.

• Diploma: The older student ranks first. If there is still a tie, the student with lower family income ranks first.

Pragati Scholarship Merit List and Queries

AICTE shares the result on its own website. A list of selected girls is put on the AICTE portal. This list is not final. If you have a doubt about it, raise it within one month. Doubts raised after that are not accepted. If payment fails due to a wrong bank account, raise it within six months. Steps to Apply for AICTE Pragati Scholarship 2026-27 on NSP

The whole process is online, and it has two parts.

NSP OTR Registration for Pragati Scholarship

One Time Registration (OTR) is the first step before any NSP form.

1. Go to scholarships.gov.in and choose One Time Registration.

2. Enter your Aadhaar number and the mobile number linked to it.

3. Type the OTP sent to your mobile.

4. Finish the face check (face authentication) on the NSP OTR app.

5. Fill in your basic details as they appear on Aadhaar.

The OTR number has 14 digits. It is a lifetime number. Use the same number every year, including for renewal.

Pragati Scholarship Apply Online Steps

Once your OTR is ready, follow these steps.

1. Log in to NSP using your OTR details.

2. Choose the AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girl Students. Pick Technical Degree or Technical Diploma as per your course.

3. Fill in your personal, academic, income and bank details.

4. Upload the required documents.

5. Check every detail, then submit the form.

6. Save the confirmation for your records.

Your institute checks the form first. Then the Department of Technical Education (DTE) of your state or UT checks it. If you spot a mistake after submitting, tell your institute at once. The new NSP rules also change how you fix a form. In a defective form, you can edit only the scheme details. To change general or academic details, you must first take back (withdraw) all your NSP forms.

Pragati Scholarship Payment Through DBT

AICTE sends the money straight to your bank account once a year. Keep these points in mind.

• The account must be a general savings account in your own name.

• Minor, joint and "frill" accounts are not accepted.

• Your bank account must be linked (seeded) with Aadhaar.

• You can track the payment on the PFMS website.

Pragati Scholarship Renewal Process

Selected girls must renew the scholarship every year to keep getting it.

1. Log in to NSP when the renewal window opens.

2. Choose the renewal option for the Pragati Scholarship.

3. Upload your passing certificate or marksheet.

4. Upload the promotion certificate signed by your institute head. It shows you moved to the next year.

5. Submit the form and ask your institute to verify it.
