These schemes start from Class 3rd and go up to post-graduation. The state runs them through two separate portals. School students use the portal of the School Education Department. Students who have passed CGBSE 10th and moved ahead use the same school portal till Class 12th. 

After Class 12th, they shift to the post matric portal. Each scheme has its own class group, category and income rule. The amount is sent straight to the student's bank account. Here are the recent updates on the CG Scholarship for the current session.

• The state scholarship link for ST, SC and OBC school students went live on September 2.

• Schools have to finish registration, renewal and verification work by September 30.

• The post matric renewal window opened on June 20 and the fresh window opened on August 1.

• Both fresh and renewal post matric applications close on December 30.

• One Time Registration on the National Scholarship Portal is now compulsory for all post matric applicants.

What is the CG Scholarship Portal

CG Scholarship Portal is the online system where Chhattisgarh students apply for state and central scholarship schemes. Two departments run it. The School Education Department handles Class 3rd to Class 12th on schoolscholarship.cg.nic.in. The ST, SC, OBC and Minority Development Department handles college-level schemes on postmatric-scholarship.cg.nic.in, also called the e-Medha portal.

More than 1,400 institutions are registered on the post matric portal. These include large universities such as Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya and Bastar Vishwavidyalaya, along with colleges, polytechnics and ITIs.

Other school schemes pay separately. Mukhyamantri Gyan Protsahan Yojana gives a one-time amount of INR 15,000 to SC and ST students who make the board merit list. Mahtari Dulaar Yojana pays INR 5,000 a year up to Class 8th and INR 10,000 a year from Class 9th to 12th. It also covers private school fees up to INR 1,09,000.

CG Post Matric Scholarship Amount for College Students

College students do not get a single flat amount. The department pays the tuition fee of the course and a maintenance allowance on top of it. Both parts change with the course you study and whether you live in a hostel. So a nursing student and an engineering student will not get the same amount. 

Check your own course rate after you log in on the e-Medha portal. Students at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya and Government Nagarjuna PG College can also ask their college scholarship in-charge for the exact figure.

NSP OTR Registration for CG Post Matric Scholarship

OTR stands for One Time Registration. It is a number you generate once on the National Scholarship Portal using your Aadhaar. You need it before you can lock your CG Scholarship application.

• Open the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in.

• Go to the OTR section and start the registration.

• Enter your Aadhaar details and finish the face authentication step.

• Note down the OTR number you receive.

• Keep this number safe. You will use it every year for the rest of your studies.

How to Apply Online for CG Scholarship

The steps are different for school and college students. Pick the one that matches your class.

CG Scholarship Registration for School Students

• Visit schoolscholarship.cg.nic.in.

• Open the login page and register with your details.

• Fill in your personal and school information.

• Your school will verify the form and forward it.

• Track the form through your school scholarship in-charge.

CG Scholarship Registration for College Students

• Finish your OTR on the National Scholarship Portal first.

• Open postmatric-scholarship.cg.nic.in and click on registration. Old users can simply log in.

• Fill in your course, college and eligibility details.

• Upload the documents in the size limits given on the portal.

• Verify the form with your NSP OTR number and submit it finally.

Students at colleges such as CSVTU Bhilai, Bhilai Institute of Technology and SSIPMT Raipur should also check that their institution has finished its own portal formalities. New institutions have to complete biometric authentication of the head of institution and the nodal officer.

Students joining technical courses at NIT Raipur, IIIT Naya Raipur or O.P. Jindal University should also carry their admission and fee papers, as the college may ask for them at the time of verification.

You can follow your form at every stage. Log in on the same portal where you applied and open the status section. Your application moves through a fixed chain before the money reaches you.

Renewal is for students who already received the scholarship last year and are now in the next class or year of the same course.

• Log in with your old user ID and password.

• Pick the renewal option instead of fresh application.

• Update your class or year of study.

• Upload your latest passed marksheet.

• Submit within the renewal phase date so your payment is not delayed.

Students continuing in long courses at AIIMS Raipur, Pt. JNM Medical College or Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences should renew every single year without a gap.
