What is the Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship Programme?

Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship checks two things together: your marks and your family income. A student with good marks but a high family income will not get it. A student with low family income but marks below 60% will not get it either. Both have to match. Tata Capital Limited runs the programme as part of its social welfare work. The word "Pankh" means wings in Hindi. Tata Capital has said the programme started in 2013 and has helped more than 21,000 students.

The money is paid back to you against the fees you have already paid. It is not a monthly allowance. Students at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jadavpur University and Savitribai Phule Pune University are covered the same way as students at any other recognised institution in India.

Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship Eligibility Criteria 2026-27

The rules are almost the same in both forms. The only difference is the course you are studying in.

Eligibility for Class 11th and 12th Students

This form is for school students. Here is what the scholarship page asks for.

  • You must be an Indian student studying in 11th Class or 12th Class.

  • Your school must be a recognised school in India.

  • You must be studying under a recognised board or institution in India.

  • You must have scored at least 60% marks in the last academic year.

Eligibility for UG, Diploma and ITI Students

This form covers normal degree courses along with skill and technical courses.

  • You must be studying in an undergraduate degree course such as BCom, BSc or BA.

  • Diploma and ITI students can also apply through the same form.

  • Your course must be running at a recognised college, university or technical institute in India.

  • You must have scored at least 60% marks in the last class, semester or year.

Courses at Anna University, Osmania University and Panjab University come under this group, along with Polytechnic and ITI courses across the country.

Pankh Scholarship Income Limit and Marks Requirement

Two numbers decide most applications. Yearly parental income from all sources must not go above INR 4 lakh. Marks in the last year must be 60% or more. Both rules apply to both forms. There is no relief in these numbers for any category.

Who Cannot Apply for the Pankh Scholarship

Some students are kept out of the programme by rule.

  • Children of Tata Capital Limited employees.

  • Children of Buddy4Study employees.

  • Students who are not Indian nationals.

Categories Given Preference in Selection

Matching the rules does not mean you are selected. The scholarship page says first preference goes to girl students, students with disabilities, students from single-parent families due to death or divorce, orphaned students, and students from SC and ST categories.

Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship Amount 2026-27

The amount is not fixed. It changes with your marks. Better marks get you a higher amount. In every slab, you get whichever figure is smaller: the share of your fees, or the rupee limit.

What the Pankh Scholarship Amount Covers

The money is only for tuition and course fees. Take a simple example. A 12th Class student scores 85% and pays INR 9,000 as school fees. The slab allows 90% of fees or INR 12,000, whichever is smaller. Here 90% of INR 9,000 is INR 8,100, so that is the amount. The scholarship page also says the exact amount for each student is fixed after selection. So the slab is the maximum limit, not a fixed payout. Fees at Christ University, Loyola College and St. Xavier’s College Mumbai are different from each other, and the final amount always follows the fee you actually paid.

The same Buddy4Study login is used to apply and to track your form later. Students applying from Amity University, Lovely Professional University and Chandigarh University use the same single login.

Documents Required for Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship

Scan every document clearly before you upload it. Blurred files slow down the checking.

  • A government-issued ID proof

  • Passport-size photo of the student

  • Income proof such as Form 16A, an income certificate from a government office, or salary slips

  • Admission proof such as a school or college ID card or a bonafide certificate

  • Fee receipt of the running academic year

  • Bank account details of the student or parent, such as a cancelled cheque or passbook copy

  • Marksheet or grade card of the last class or semester

  • Disability certificate and caste certificate, where these apply

Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship Selection Process

Selection happens in steps. Marks alone do not decide it. First, forms are shortlisted on marks and family income together. Then the uploaded documents are checked. Shortlisted students get a phone interview after that. The final list is approved by Tata Capital Limited.

The phone interview matters more than students expect. Keep your phone reachable on the number you write in the form. Students from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Symbiosis International University and SRM Institute of Science and Technology go through the same four steps as everyone else.

Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship Status Check and Result

After you submit, you do not need to call anyone again. Updates come to you.

How to Check Pankh Scholarship Application Status

You can track your form on the same portal where you applied. Sign in to the same Buddy4Study account you used while applying. Open the Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship page. Every listed programme gets a result option once its result is out. Keep opening the page while your form is being checked.

How Shortlisted Students Are Informed

The scholarship team contacts you in more than one way. Shortlisted students get a message by email, SMS, phone call, or on the Buddy4Study portal. All of this goes to the contact details you filled in. So a wrong mobile number in the form can cost you the scholarship. Students from Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia and University of Calcutta get the same alerts.

Previous Year Pankh Scholarship Results on the Portal

The scholarship page keeps older sessions live. Their result tabs are still open, each with its own result option. This helps in two ways. Students from an older session can still check their result. New students get an idea of how much time the process usually takes from the closing date to the result.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   Is there any fee to apply for the Tata Capital Pankh Scholarship?
A:

No. The form is completely free. Do not pay anyone to fill it, because the whole process runs online on the Buddy4Study portal.

Q:   How will I know if I am selected for the Pankh Scholarship?
A:

Shortlisted students get a message by email, SMS, phone call or on the Buddy4Study portal. Check the contact details you filled in, because every update goes there.

Mistakes That Can Get Your Pankh Scholarship Application Rejected

Most forms are rejected because of paperwork, not marks. Here are the common mistakes.

Problem

What to Do

Wrong or half-filled details in the form

Read the preview screen fully before you submit

Income proof does not match the income you filled

Use a proper certificate from a government office

Marksheet shows less than 60%

Check your total percentage before applying

Unclear or unreadable document scans

Scan again in good light and upload

Wrong mobile number or email ID

Use a number you check daily

Applying after the closing date

Submit well before the last date, not in the final week

A form with wrong or half-filled information can be rejected when the applications are checked. Students at VIT Vellore, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and Birla Institute of Technology Mesra should take this check as seriously as the form itself.
