Review of Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital.
Placements: The level of skills taught to us is pathetic because of a very low number of patients and high charges. The efficiency of a student to be hired is hampered overall. Hardly anyone gets high paying jobs after completion, but you can't solely blame the college for it because the state of the profession is in dire straits now anyway.
Infrastructure: The campus is smaller than a park, but it is situated in the heart of the city. No extracurricular activities are on a daily basis. The library is small, and enough materials are not provided. Washroom facilities are not good, either. Lack of men's hostel is a problem. The ragging committee is very good and makes sure no students are ragged. There are CCTVs installed nearly everywhere.
Faculty: The college has a mixed bag of faculty members. Some teachers are helpful while the management is not. The course curriculum is outdated. Wish we were taught new things on patients at least in the internship, but then we need to have enough patients for that which is not possible here because of the high fees charged.
Other: I come from a family of doctors. Both my grandparents were doctors, and my father is the head of the department of ENT, in one of the reputed government colleges. I chose dentistry because I believed I could make a difference in the oral health community. I wish the management would have been supportive, and the infrastructure was better. I've participated in almost all extracurricular events held by the college and excelled in it. The events were far and few.
