XII) examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as required subjects, and they must have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum of 45% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in order to be eligible for this programme.

At DYPBBI, they have well-equipped labs for teaching and performing course practicals along with that they have some research labs like Microbial Diversity Research Centre, Cancer And Translational Research lab where professors carry out their research projects and students get opportunity to work there during summer break as they gave 2 months holidays for doing an internship. • Placements: The placement record is not that good as expected after doing Masters from a good college. The average salary provided by the companies lie between 4-5 Lacs which is very less, so a person expects more after spending a lot on studies and after all getting that low package.
• Infrastructure: The infrastructure of thecollege is average. The campus is small. Students have to book a turf outside the college. The infrastructure of the hostel is comparatively better. The food served in the mess is not much good and specially the water facility is not good. 

One good thing about the college is:

Faculty: All the staff members and teachers are extremely well qualified and specialised in their own arena. Teachers are very helpful and also helps in career counselling. The course curriculum is well designed, incorporating nearly all the spheres of biotechnology.

At Dr D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute, they provide you the college uniform which you have to wear on specific events like if you are going to attend international conferences and paper presentation. And during regular college days casuals are allowed. At the fresher's party, the dress code for the students was as per the theme- Denims and dresses, cool shades and casual flip-flops.

DYBPPI admissions usually open in April-May. The institute opens application for PhD course usually in June and continues till July. DY Patil University conducts PhD entrance test in Second week of July. Admission to UG course is based on Common Entrance Test conducted by DY Patil Vidyapeeth.
