GCT (Namakkal) is different from the Government College of Technology that was established in Coimbatore earlier. While the college produces students employed in top companies like TCS, Infosys and Google, it does not feature any "top alumni" with [national or international] recognition like those institutions associated with famous figures. Its former students help different industries, but there are no famous people officially recognised at this time.

GCT - Gnanamani College of Technology offers BTech, MTech, MBA, and MCA courses.UG:At the UG level, the institute offers only BTech courses. Admission to the courses is based on the scores obtained in TNEA counseling. To be eligible for any course, the candidate has to score a minimum of 45% in class 12th in a relevant stream from any recognized board.PG:At the PG level, the institute offers only MTech, MBA, and MCA courses. Admission to the MTech courses is based on the scores obtained in the GATE exam, while MBA and MCA admissions are based on the TANCET scores. There are several clubs and extra activities at GCT for the overall growth of students. They comprise fests ("Gnan Fest"), technical clubs such as Robotics, Coding, Cybersecurity, and Data Science, as well as clubs for particular departments like Agri and Biomedical topics. Sports facilities (for cricket, football, tennis, gym) and several social/community service groups (like NSS, YRC and Rotaract) on-site are also available.
