A reputed government college with quality education and affordable fees.
Placements: Since this is a government college, placements for B.A. history are limited. But the college provides good guidance for students who wish to go for higher studies like M.A, B.Ed, or UPSC/PSC exams. Many seniors prepare for government jobs with the help of faculty support and alumni network. College motivates students to build a career through academics and competitive exams rather than only campus placements.
Infrastructure: College has a large and historic campus with a peaceful environment. Library is well-stocked with good reference materials for history and other subjects. Classrooms are spacious. Hostel facilities are decent and affordable compared to private colleges. There are also playgrounds and basic sports facilities. While not ultra-modern, the infrastructure is sufficient for academic growth and provides a traditional learning atmosphere.
Faculty: Faculty members are experienced and highly supportive. Most of them are passionate about their subjects and encourage students to think critically. The curriculum is designed by the University of Calicut, and it is comprehensive for history studies. Exams are fair and focus on conceptual understanding. Teachers are approachable and help students not only in academics but also in career planning.
Other: Government Victoria College is one of the oldest and most reputed institutions in Palakkad with a rich heritage. Campus has a good academic atmosphere. Students get opportunities to participate in cultural activities, NSS, and arts festivals. It is a great place for those who are serious about studies and want a calm, academic-focused environment.

Historic college with low placements and poor facilities. It needs modernization.
Placements: Placements for BA history are almost non-existent at this college. Companies rarely visit for arts courses and students mostly need to prepare for higher studies like M.A, B.Ed or competitive exams. There is no structured career guidance or placement training. College is good for academics but in terms of direct job opportunities after graduation, it is disappointing.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is below average. While the campus is big and historic, most classrooms are old and not well-maintained. Library has a decent collection but lacks proper digital resources. Hostel facilities are very basic and the mess food is often unsatisfactory. Wi-Fi and modern facilities like smart classrooms are missing in most areas. Sports and extracurricular facilities also feel underdeveloped.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable but many of them still rely on outdated teaching methods. Mostly lectures without much interaction. The curriculum is purely academic and does not give any industry exposure or practical knowledge. Exams are manageable but heavily theory-based. While the pass percentage is decent. The overall learning experience does not feel modern or career-oriented.
Other: I joined BA history program because of my interest in the subject. But the college has not provided a complete student experience. The campus lacks vibrant cultural activities and exposure programs compared to other colleges. There are limited seminars, workshops or guest lectures to inspire students. Connectivity to the college is fine. But the campus surroundings feel neglected. I wish there were more initiatives for extracurricular, student clubs and career building programs.

A reputed college with supportive faculty and a peaceful learning environment.
Placements: Placements are fair but not a strong point for B.A. students. A few companies visit, offering mainly junior-level roles. Most students here plan for post-graduation or competitive exams instead of depending on campus placements. The college does provide some career counseling, but industry connections could definitely be improved.
Infrastructure: The campus has an old charm with a green environment, which makes it peaceful for studies. The library is well-stocked and very useful, especially for Economics. Classrooms are simple but functional. Hostel accommodation is available, though the facilities are average and the food in the mess could be better. The canteen is affordable, but choices are limited. Sports and arts are encouraged, though on a modest scale.
Faculty: Teachers are approachable and genuinely supportive. Most of them are well-qualified and guide students beyond classroom lessons whenever required. The teaching style is still more theory-based than practical, but they put effort into ensuring students understand the subject. Guidance for higher studies is strong, which helps students who want to pursue an M.A. or MBA.
Other: Government Victoria College has a long-standing reputation in Palakkad and is well recognized under Calicut University. The fee structure is affordable making it accessible to students from all backgrounds. The atmosphere is safe, disciplined and academically focused. While campus life is not very vibrant compared to big private colleges, it gives a stable environment for serious learners. The college would benefit from upgrading its facilities and building stronger placement opportunities but overall it remains a good choice for those who value academics and affordability.

It's an affordable and academically rich experience with a peaceful campus life.
Placements: Although this is a government arts and science college and not focused heavily on placements, there are decent opportunities for economics students through competitive exams, internships, and government job preparation. Placement drives aren't common, but students are encouraged to pursue higher studies, research roles, or clear UPSC/PSC exams. Some students have done internships through external programs and NGOs.
Infrastructure: College has a historical campus with solid infrastructure. The Economics department has well-maintained classrooms and a good academic environment. There's a library with updated materials, but digital facilities could improve. Wi-Fi is available in the library. Hostel facilities are basic but functional. Food in the mess is decent, but variety is limited. Sports grounds and cultural spaces are available and active during the year.
Faculty: Faculty in the Economics department are experienced and approachable. Most teachers hold PhDs and are supportive in academics as well as with competitive exam guidance. The curriculum is designed to balance theory and application, and many faculty members encourage participation in debates and paper presentations. Semester exams are fair, and the pass percentage is high with proper preparation.
Other: I chose B.A. Economics because I aim to pursue civil services and this course offers a strong foundation. The college's legacy and academic atmosphere made it an easy choice. However, I wish more internship support and placement drives were conducted. Events like debates, NSS, and the literary club add a lot to the experience. Accessibility and public transport options are very good due to the central location.

Other: The campus has a vibrant and diverse crowd, with an active student union. There is a healthy mix of academics and extracurricular activities. Cultural festivals like the college arts fest are well organised and enjoyable. Campus life feels peaceful and rooted in tradition with regular seminars and public lectures.

If you want to study any particular subject purely on an academic basis, here is a great option.
Placements: Since it is a Government college offering general courses, placement support is not there. However, there will be career guidance seminars to guide students and the teachers are extremely helpful in guiding us. All in all it is a great experience per se.
Infrastructure: Eventhough every basic facility is available, almost all buildings are from the 90s, which gives a vintage look and aesthetic to the campus. Various movies have also been shot in this campus. The vineetha garden also gives a class look to this campus.
Faculty: These courses definitely will not make you industry ready, however if you are interested in learning a subject to the core, it is helpful. Semester exams are a bit hidious since Calicut university is known to NOT conduct exams on time, unfortunate.
Other: Campus life as a whole is really colorful and joyous.
