It is affordable. I have academically rich experience with a peaceful campus life.
Placements: It is a government arts and science college and not focused heavily on placements. There are decent opportunities for economics students through competitive exams, internships and government job preparation. Placement drives aren't common but students are encouraged to pursue higher studies, research roles or clear UPSC/PSC exams. Some students have done internships through external programs and NGOs.
Infrastructure: The college has a historic campus with solid infrastructure. The Economics department has well-maintained classrooms and a good academic environment. There is a library with updated materials but digital facilities could be improved. Wi-Fi is available in the library. Hostel facilities are basic but functional. Food in the mess is decent but the variety is limited. Sports grounds and cultural spaces are available and active throughout the year.
Faculty: Faculty members in the Economics department are experienced and approachable. Most teachers are PhD holders and are supportive in academics as well as competitive exam guidance. The course curriculum is designed to balance theory and application. Many faculty members encourage participation in debates and paper presentations. Semester exams are fair and the pass percentage is high with proper preparation.
Other: The campus has a vibrant and diverse crowd, with an active student union. There is a healthy mix of academics and extracurricular activities. Cultural festivals like the college arts fest are well organised and enjoyable. Campus life feels peaceful and rooted in tradition with regular seminars and public lectures.

B.A. in Economics - Batch of 2020

If you want to study any particular subject purely on an academic basis, here is a great option.
Placements: Since it is a Government college offering general courses, placement support is not there. However, there will be career guidance seminars to guide students and the teachers are extremely helpful in guiding us. All in all it is a great experience per se.
Infrastructure: Eventhough every basic facility is available, almost all buildings are from the 90s, which gives a vintage look and aesthetic to the campus. Various movies have also been shot in this campus. The vineetha garden also gives a class look to this campus.
Faculty: These courses definitely will not make you industry ready, however if you are interested in learning a subject to the core, it is helpful. Semester exams are a bit hidious since Calicut university is known to NOT conduct exams on time, unfortunate.
Other: Campus life as a whole is really colorful and joyous.

Very good campus. Recommended for everyone.
Placements: More than 80% of the students are placed in a very good position in their respected fields. Almost everyone are getting paid more than 60000/- rupees per month. This college is having a well maintained placement cell which ensures surety of our future.
Infrastructure: Government Victoria College is located in Palakkad Kerala which is built in a very vast land with lots of classrooms and other facilities. All the teachers are well qualified in their field and are very friendly. All the fest and sports events are celebrated like a function.
Faculty: All the faculty members are will qualified in their field and are very friendly to everyone. All the teachers are well disciplined and are very punctual in their work. Every teacher here is government certified Ph.D. holders which helps the students understand more about the respective subject .

It has vibrant atmosphere and students feel an extraordinary connection on campus.
Placements: The placement cell was not active in this college. Usually, students from a commerce background get placed in banks and other institutions. Students from arts backgrounds did not get placements after UG. Many students preferred PG courses.
Infrastructure: Classrooms were spacious. There was a decent library and staff members were friendly. The food served in the canteen was very good. This college provided immense opportunities to sportspeople. The boys' hostel was available on our campus. The girls' hostel was just a half km away from our college. The food served in the hostel was average. Both hostels were good.
Faculty: All teachers had doctorate degrees. They were very helpful. The course curriculum was not hard. If we studied well, we would score good marks in exams. The course was useful in real life. The pass marks were 24. Students engaged in cultural activities and sports got grace marks as well.
Other: The course had a wide range of scope in any field. The only con that I felt was in Kerala, subjects related to Arts were not given that importance. This college sanctions grants to needy people, and the union arranges programs frequently.

Review of Government Victoria College.
Placements: Students with 90% in their intermediate get placements in our college. This course helps students to prepare for the civil service examination.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are very good. The food served and accommodation are good. I'm satisfied with the care of the hostel staff members. The infrastructure of the hostel and college is built in the colonial period and is developing every year.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are developing students' skills through different activities and programs. Many study programs are conducted by the college to improve students' skills and knowledge. Our college students perform very well every academic year.
Other: Our batch consists of 35 students. This course enables students to get more knowledge about economics and the scope of economics. It is ranked 85th in all Indian government colleges.

Semester exams are fair, and the pass percentage is high with proper preparation.
Other: I chose B.A. Economics because I aim to pursue civil services and this course offers a strong foundation. The college's legacy and academic atmosphere made it an easy choice. However, I wish more internship support and placement drives were conducted. Events like debates, NSS, and the literary club add a lot to the experience. Accessibility and public transport options are very good due to the central location.

A reputed college with supportive faculty and a peaceful learning environment.
Placements: Placements are fair but not a strong point for B.A. students. A few companies visit, offering mainly junior-level roles. Most students here plan for post-graduation or competitive exams instead of depending on campus placements. The college does provide some career counseling, but industry connections could definitely be improved.
Infrastructure: The campus has an old charm with a green environment, which makes it peaceful for studies. The library is well-stocked and very useful, especially for Economics. Classrooms are simple but functional. Hostel accommodation is available, though the facilities are average and the food in the mess could be better. The canteen is affordable, but choices are limited. Sports and arts are encouraged, though on a modest scale.
Faculty: Teachers are approachable and genuinely supportive. Most of them are well-qualified and guide students beyond classroom lessons whenever required. The teaching style is still more theory-based than practical, but they put effort into ensuring students understand the subject. Guidance for higher studies is strong, which helps students who want to pursue an M.A. or MBA.
Other: Government Victoria College has a long-standing reputation in Palakkad and is well recognized under Calicut University. The fee structure is affordable making it accessible to students from all backgrounds. The atmosphere is safe, disciplined and academically focused. While campus life is not very vibrant compared to big private colleges, it gives a stable environment for serious learners. The college would benefit from upgrading its facilities and building stronger placement opportunities but overall it remains a good choice for those who value academics and affordability.
