IBS-Mumbai is affiliated to ICFAI University (IFHE Group). It is an autonomous university which has its own set of institutions rules and regulations. Majority of the private institutes does not have AICTE recognition or accreditation. Many corporate or business houses does look for AICTE or UGC Approval at the time of hiring candidates from B-Schools. Be it a PGPM/PGDM/MBA/MMS, all matters is the placements that the institute provides to its candidates or students. It is the name or brand value of the institute that makes the difference at the time of placements. Everything right from company's visit, package offered by them, to the profile given depends upon the name of the institute it has with the corporate. Many companies recruit people from B-Schools based on the performance given by their Alumni or ex-students. There are various other big autonomous institutions like IIM (Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Calcutta & others), JBIMS (Mumbai), NMIMS (Mumbai, Hyderabad & Bangalore), Symbiosis Institute (Pune).

The placements status of IBS Mumbai is still the same like last year, in fact better in spite of demonetisation. After demonetisation, many companies had halted their recruitment but still IBS Mumbai placements team dedication & commitment is able to convince many companies to come to the college campus for placements. Recently big companies like Hero Fin Corp, Kotak Mahindra Prime, Society Tea, MSCI, VRX Labs, Zydus Wellness, ICICI Securities, Tech Mahindra, Marathon Realty, Eskay Resorts, ICE (Balaji Telefilms), Index media, sine.com and Lodha had visited the campus. It would be solely your decision whether you want to go for IBS or some other institutions. Choice is yours, it's your life, no one can force you to take decisions, just take a smart decision and go for the institute of your choice. This is all I need to say. Give interview at IBS and then decide, whether you want to be at IBS or some where else. I am sure you will like IBS. But at the end of the day, decision will be all yours.

IBS is one of the best institutes in Asia, having campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali. The admission will be given to the experience candidates. Further, last year, the highest placement salary package offered to the MBA graduate of IBS was 1.15 crore LPA by the top organisation in the Asia.

GD would be purely based on current affairs, topics such as demonetisation, impact of Donald Trump win on the Indian economy, Tata Sons versus Cyrus Misty, should we vote for BJP in the coming elections or few old topics such as should Pakistani actors be banned in India , Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton , Raghuram Rajan versus Urjit Patel. GD may even include generic topics such as do we really need education to be successful, Make in India, should India stop importing Chinese goods, is technology hampering our productivity and so on. In order to prepare yourself best, start reading business news or financial news from Economic times, Mint, Business Standards, etc. Reading will definitely help you a lot in GD. As far as PI is concerned, be very selective at the time of choosing your words to speak in front of the interviewer. If you are looking for specialization in finance, then be updated with the knowledge of banking industry and stock market. Even start preparing on the basics of domain knowledge required in finance, same goes for marketing, HR and operations. Be ready with your answers and always be confident while expressing your thought in front of the interviewers.

Hyderabad campus of IBS is well known for its infrastructure, education & training, placements and so on . I am very much sure that you will definitely enjoy the admission selection process at IBS Hyderabad . GD topic would be solely based on current affairs such as Snapdeal, Flipkart, Amazon - the ultimate market leader in e-commerce or Natrajan Chandrashekarhan versus Cyprus Misty, Impact of Donald Trump on Indian economy. The topic can even be generic. Read newspapers well . The PI will be purely general such as tell us something about yourself, your qualifications, work experience if any?Why MBA ? Why IBS ? Which Specialization are you looking for? Suppose if you say Marketing. Then why Marketing ? Research well on the answers.

The average package of my college ranges from Rs 5.5 lakhs to Rs 6.5 lakhs. Even if you are an average student doesn't matter, because average students are sometimes proven to have a good placement record . Hope your percentage is 60% and above in SSC, HSC and Graduation. If not then at least it is needed to be above 50% for getting admission in the Mumbai campus. Placements in MBA colleges are done solely on the basis of the skills a candidate has in him or her and secondly on the academic records which a recruiter sees while hiring candidates for the jobs. Even I was an average student during my school and junior college days. You just need to show your interest and nothing else in doing MBA, rest you will make your own way.

It is not compulsory to have AICTE certification for the college because when you are joining a corporate world they look for MBA graduates and it doesn't matter for the companies whether the institution is AICTE approved or not . Only thing which matters most to the companies is that the college's brand value and the potential a student has in him or her as a MBA personnel. Many AICTE approved institutes sometimes are not able to deliver potential students and proper placements for the companies and students as well. Joining a private company doesn't require AICTE certification but joining a government job definitely requires AICTE certification. Even if you want to pursue PHD in future, it will require AICTE certification. But for joining a private company or a corporate entity AICTE certification is not needed.
