The institute is new compared to other IIMCs but is the best in the North-most India. Life at IIMC Jammu is quite diverse and dynamic. IIMC Jammu attracts students from across the country, leading to a rich cultural exchange and opportunities to learn from different perspectives. 

IIMC is the Training Academy of Indian Information Service (IIS) Officers. In addition, the Institute successfully conducts a number of Post-graduate Diploma in Journalism Courses in English, Hindi, Radio & TV, Urdu, Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Advertising & Public Relations, which enjoy high industry acceptance.
