In most cases, no you can not directly take admission in third year of B.Com when you fail in the 1 st year and then you take a free year. Academic progression rules in University are normally severe. It is most likely that you would be required to re-enrol during the first year or the second year at worst, in the event that you pass your failed subjects upon the discretion of the university regarding the re-admission policy. A gap year does not automatically lead to a promotion since there is a normal practice of having a backlog of failed subjects, especially at the advanced years. You are required to talk to the admission or registrar office at the university in order to get their unique steps towards re-admission following academic failure and an interruption to study.

The M.A. in Economics at IDOL Mumbai University is a solid programme with a comprehensive curriculum, experienced faculty, and research opportunities. However, its reputation and placement records may not be as strong as those of the Delhi School of Economics (DSE) or the Madras School of Economics (MSE). If you're considering a career in economics, particularly in policy-making or research, DSE or MSE may offer more advantages. But if you're based in Mumbai or prefer a more localized experience, the M.A. in Economics at Mumbai University can still provide a good education and opportunities.
