LBSIM has no comparison with IFMR. LBSIM used to be a very good institute, but now they are surviving on the legacy. The Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) has received the letter of intent from the Andhra Pradesh State government for a private university. It is located in the industrial hub area of South India. It is better than LBSIM, Delhi in terms of placement, internship program and batch size.
Placement:
IFMR: The average CTC is 8.5 LPA for the 2014-16 batch and 7.5 for 2013-15 batch (average CTC rise is 13%).

Engineers have done pretty well. Things are taught from basics only but you will have an advantage if you have some knowledge.

The FS course is focused on the fast growing Financial Services sector in India. If you're interested in Finance, you'll enjoy the course, as most of the subjects right from the first year are focused on finance. Between LBSIM and SIMSR, I'd definitely prefer simsr. But maybe if you're from Delhi, you can consider LBSIM. In FS, you'll be allowed to sit for all finance profiles which come in. Banks like JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley etc. and other financial institutions come a lot. Not aware of the placements in LBSIM, so I cannot comment on that.
