B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology - Batch of 2027
3.4

Great Practical Training in Attached Hospital, Average Theory & Placements.
Placements: I'm in 2nd year B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology at Sanjiban Institute of Health Sciences (1st year completed Aug 2025). Seniors say around 60% students get placed, mostly in Kolkata private hospital like Apollo, Fortis, AMRI as OT or Critical Care Technician. The highest package 3-4 LPA, average 2-2.5 LPA. Everyone gets internship in colleges 500+ B.Ed hospital. Placement cell is not very active; many find jobs themselves. Overall average placements but good practical exposure helps.
Infrastructure: Best part is the attached 500+ B.Ed busy hospital with the latest OT equipment, ventilators, anaesthesia machines? Excellent hands-on practical training. Labs are good with simulation facilities. But theory classes only 3-4 per week, classrooms okay (not all AC), slow Wi-Fi, average library and mess food. Hostel rooms clean. Feels 1-2 Lacs/year. Great for practical, theory needs improvement.
Faculty: Faculty members are mostly qualified and experienced, many come from hospital backgrounds, so they know practical aspects well. Teachers are generally helpful if you approach them, but some classes feel rushed because theory session. The curriculum is relevant for paramedical fields like OTT and Critical Care? It focuses more on practical skills than deep theory, which makes us somewhat industry-ready, especially with the attached hospital exposure. Exams are moderate in difficult; internal assessment and practical carry good weight. Pass percentage is high, around 90-95% if you attend practical regularly. Overall decent, but more structured theory classes would help.
Other: I chose B.Sc. OTT because I wanted a healthcare career with good practical scope and shorter duration than MBBS. The best thing is the real hospital exposure? We assist in actual operations from early years. Campus crowd is decent, mostly local students from West Bengal, friendly but not very diverse. Campus life is quiet? No big fests or events, very few extracurricular activities. Surroundings are calm, near hospital area. Connectivity is okay by bus/auto. Scholarships are limited. Wish there were more theory classes, better placement drives, and some college events to make it lively.
