Delhi varsities get professional
Professional courses are the flavour of the season with Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha (GGSIP) University offering new spe- cialised courses in tourism and management.
"GGSIP University is intro- ducing two new professional courses this year: Bachelors in Business Management with spe- cialisation in
international busi- ness and Bachelors in Modern Office Management. The three- year degree courses will be offered in various affiliated col- leges of the University," said Avinash Sharma, director, Academic Affairs, GGSIP University .
GGSIP University has more than 70 affiliated colleges and an annual intake of about 12,000 students. It offers B. Tech and M. Tech dual degree programmes and a LLB pro- gramme at its Kashmere Gate campus. The admission is through a common entrance test.
Jamia has also introduced a three-year undergraduate degree course in Tourism and Hospitality Management this year. The course will admit 30 students.
Other professional courses such as the Bachelors in Applied Arts offered by the university are also popular. "Applied arts admits 30 students. Special tours for each class are con- ducted each year to give them more exposure," said MG Kidwai, head of the department, Faculty of Fine Arts, JMI.
