IP Univ plans Asia’s biggest design institute
The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University or IP University, Delhi plans to set up an Institute of design at its East campus with an investment of Rs 200 crore. Expected to be Asia's biggest centre of its kind, the institute would be established on the lines of the National Institute of Design (NID), but would be much bigger resource-wise. A blueprint of the same has reportedly been sent to the Delhi chief minister recently.
Located in the university's Kashmere Gate campus, School of Architecture and Planning will also be shifted to the East Campus. Besides this, the university also has plans to start three new centres of studies – Centre of Study of Indigenous Literature, Centre for Film and Culture Studies and Centre for Development and Planning.
Looking to start construction soon, the institute is planned for completion in the next two years.
