A pledge taken up by companies by providing 6300 more Engineering Internship Opportunities in 2012.

According to the sources, it has been revealed that more than 50 well established companies have contracted to double the engineering internships for students in US. Around 6300 more Engineering Internship Opportunities can be availed by the year 2012. This very opportunity is likely to be strewn by companies like AT&T, Boeing, Dell, Face book, GE and Intel.

These opportunities are supposed to be a part of a greater Jobs Council in order to undertake the problem of America's engineering shortage by the way of graduating 10000 more engineering students from US colleges and universities each year.

Believing the statistics, there has been a boost of 50% in the college graduation levels in the US whereas the number of engineering graduates have come down to around 1, 20,000.

The focal point of India's and China's graduating classes is quality rather than quantity. If sources are to be believed, roughly 1 million engineers graduate from Indian and Chinese universities every year hindering the global competitiveness and further threatening the ability of the US to retain and create high tech good paying job opportunities in the US.

Considering the motivation for the Jobs Council efforts, the creation of more engineering internships and opportunities would certainly be taken as welcome news .These internships are almost a prerequisite for getting a full-time job, and are the best way for students to get their foot in the door.
