AICTE to curtail fraudulent activities

In the move to circumvent the issue of fraud caste certificates and introduce transparency in the admission process, the HRD Ministry (Human Resource Development Ministry) has decided to pluck off all the fraudulent activities. This is done taking in consideration, the rise in cases related to the fake SC/ST & OBC certificates while seeking admissions at various education institutions.

The authorities have asked the AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) to take strict measures and keep a record of all those fake SC, ST and OBC certificates presented at the time of admission and also conduct a thorough documentation verification process. The AICTE is an apex body that regulates all the technical educational institutions in the country and grants approval to hundreds of these technical institutions established to serve the engineering aspirants with a standard education system.

The Ministry has also asked the council to maintain a yearly record of all the fake caste certificates presented at the time of admission. This is done in order to create a database record of these certificates, further leading to frame preventive measure. The database will not only assist the educational institutions in verifying the fake documents presented during admissions but, will also keep the frauds from allegedly occupying the reserved quota seats.

Sources from the council also mentioned that nothing new is being implemented now, it is just that up till now the educational institutions were not taking the matter seriously and when these activities have reached its peak, they are showing concern. “Institutes are supposed to verify the certificates but it doesn’t happen all the time. So we have issued a warning to them to verify all such certificates and take strict action,” said a source.

This initiative will surely improve the graph of rising number of fraudulent activities and fake document cases while trying to seek admissions and will also highly affect the students who have used any kind of fake documents along with the fake caste certificates in order to easily gain admission. The degrees of students already enrolled into the educational institutions through fake means will either be cancelled or not awarded.
