Anna University website offers useful admission features
In an effort to prevent students getting misled by agents and commercial websites, Anna University has implemented a new facility on their website. Now students, who have applied to engineering courses, will get to see which colleges and courses to apply for based on their marks, instead of information on just the cut-off scores. The details will be published on www.annauniv.edu/tnea2013/.
These steps were taken after it was observed that students were relying on private agents, who charge a fee, for admission information. Admissions to about 2.5 lakh seats in 535 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu will begin next month. Counselling will commence on June 21.
This year, students can key in their marks and they will get a suitable list of matching courses and colleges where they may get admission, based on marks scored and previous year’s cut-offs. Students can log in every day and track vacancies, as the website will be updated eight times in a day.
However, with more colleges increasing their intake and introducing new courses, some changes are expected in the admission process this year. To avoid any confusion, students should create a list of colleges they are eligible for and visit the campuses.
