B.Tech in Materials Science & Engineering at IIT-Gandhinagar
The Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) is set to start a new four-year B.Tech program in Materials Science & Engineering from the academic session 2014-15.
The institute currently offers B.Tech in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil engineering and the proposed program will be the fifth engineering stream at this five-year old IIT. The year 2013 saw IIT-Gn launch various other programs like a four-year B.Tech in Civil engineering, and two-year M.Sc programme in Chemistry, Mathematics and Cognitive Sciences.
Besides this, an MoU is in the process of being formalized between IIT Bombay and IIT-Gn on student exchange. As part of the MOU, students enrolled in IIT-Gn can attend classes in Mumbai and vice versa. Credit earned in a semester at IIT-Gn becomes transferable, and vice versa.
“We will launch 4-year B Tech in Materials Science and Engineering from the next academic calendar, besides two-year M.Sc in Physics and MA in Society and Culture," said IIT-Gn director Prof Sudhir K Jain.
