Bid Adieu to IIT-JEE: Single Test from 2013!
Time to say Bid Adieu to IIT-JEE!
It's time to say good bye to IIT-JEE and all other engineering exams; as Government has decided to scrap all the engineering exams and there will be single engineering entrance exam from 2013-14. Issue of hiking tuition fees has also come up in demand. Students won't go through any problem during the sessions and they'll just have to pay once they get a job.
IIT Council (IIT directors) and officials from the ministry of human resource development (HRD) and, Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal at a meeting has decided to scarp all the engineering exams that are to be conducted in the various parts of the country. At present, various state boards and institutions including IITs which conduct at least 150 entrance exams every year. The government has decided to dismiss all the engineering exams including IIT-JEE and the AIEEE.
There will also be one merit list and institutes as well as IITs will have to pick students from this list. This list will be based on Class 12th marks and the results of entrance tests. Students will also be counseled before they choose a course and this test will be as similar as common entrance exam for medical courses beginning next year.
Government is aware that several states might go against its plan of a common entrance test for engineering courses as a large number of engineering colleges comes under state purview. But it has confident that they'll get full support of state governments because Supreme Court has given green signal to common entrance exam for medical courses.
