BITSAT 2012 to be held from 10th May to 9th June 2012

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University. BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) is conducted by BITS for admission to integrated first degree programmes at BITS Pilani campuses in Pilani, Hyderabad, and Goa. It is a computer based online test and it will be conducted during 10th May to 9th June 2012 at different cities in India and Dubia campus.

Candidates can choose the center, the date and time for the test, as per his/her convenience, while applying for the test.

Eligibility for BITSAT 2012

• Candidates should have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in physics, chemistry, and Maths (PCM) from a recognized central or state board
• Knowledge of English language is must

Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2012 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2011 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT 2012 test. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT 2012.

BITSAT 2012 Test Structure

The duration of the test is three hours. All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions) and based on NCERT syllabus. This test is divided into four parts:

All the questions are objective type and each question has four choices to answer, and each correct answer fetches 3 marks and every incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1mark).

Syllabus of the test

The syllabus of BITSAT 2012 is designed on the basis of NCERT syllabus for 11th and 12th class. Candidates may refer to the NCERT textbooks for the contents.

Application Procedure

To apply for BITSAT 2012, register your names by applying in the prescribed application form online. Complete your application form online at http://www.bitsadmission.com and pay the prescribed fees. If you make payment by Demand draft then a copy of the completed application form along with the prescribed fees of Rs. 1700/- (Rs. 1200/- for female candidates) should be sent to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani - 333 031. If you are using a payment mode other than DD then the prescribed fee for BITSAT 2012 is Rs. 1600/-(Rs. 1100/- for female candidates).

If a candidate chooses Dubai as a test center the application fee for both male and female candidates will be same and will be US $ 50 (or Indian Rs. 2500/- ). Details for payment of fees are available at the website while applying online.

Deadline to apply for BITSAT-2012 online along with the fee payment is 15th February 2012. If you are using DD as the mode of payment then the DD along with a copy of application form must reach Admissions Office, BITS Pilani by 5.00 PM on 15st February 2012.

The candidates can choose the center from within India or Dubai. If a candidate chooses centers within India, he/she will be asked to give three preferences and will be allotted one out of these three.

Admission Process

Admission will be done on the basis of merit and the merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT 2012.
