Carnegie Mellon University offers scholarships to Indian students

Carnegie Mellon University, an internationally renowned American university, is offering 12 scholarships to Indian students for a special May 2011 intake at its Adelaide Campus in Australia. Each scholarship will be valued at about $38,000 (about R16 lakh), or higher for exceptional applicants.

While admissions are usually conducted in January and August, Carnegie Mellon has created a special May intake for Indian students under this scholarship scheme.

Kentucky University opens its doors to international students

The W C Parker Diversity scholarships at the University of Kentucky, initially limited to US domestic students are now open to international students, including eligible Indian students. Students from India applying to undergraduate programs commencing September 2011 will be eligible for these scholarships.

In addition to the Diversity scholarships, Indian students are also eligible to apply for numerous other academic scholarships available at the university. Emphasising the opportunity, Audra Cryder, International Representative from University of Kentucky, said, "The University of Kentucky awards 5 -10 international students with the W.C. Parker scholarship to pursue a Bachelor's degree and we are here to encourage talented Indian students to apply for this scholarship."

La Trobe University offers photography programme

La Trobe University is offering a distinctive photography programme - Edge of the Outback - where students can learn about photography. This programme would serve as a platform for Indian students and provide opportunities to gain real life experiences to sharpen their photography skills. The course takes place annually for three weeks in months of June and July.

Scholarship programme for achievers

Youth Empowerment Serices (YES), the CSR arm of a private company, has announced an achievers' scholarship programme which will also include psychological and professional qualities' assessment. YES, which works in collaboration with Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), will offer these scholarship to students studying in the first year of graduation/ diploma courses, and in Class 8 to Class 12 for a complete academic year. The application procedure is due to start on February 8.
