An institute in Gurgaon has set-up a first-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art simulated mine to train students interested in making a career in mining & natural resources industry.

An institute in Gurgaon has set-up a first-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art simulated mine to train students interested in making a career in mining and natural resources industry. Indian Institute of Skill development in association with OGM Australia and CIT has launched Institute of Natural Resources (INR) to provide specialised certificate courses to students in mining and allied fields.

On the launch, director of INR, KB Trehan said, “Mining and allied industries suffer from shortage of skilled manpower. The institute will give an opportunity to interested candidates to learn about the mining industry. This is a first-of-its-kind training institute with simulated underground mine to reproduce actual environment for optimum learning effect. Passionate faculty from both India and Australia, who have been trained & certified by TAFE, Australia shall teach students. This will give an opportunity to the trainees to be certified by TAFE, Australia. At the end of the programme, we shall provide placement assistance to our students in India and abroad.”

The institute shall run specialised courses in mining for interested candidates which shall commence in January 2013. The fee structure will hover around Rs 4 lakh on an average for the programmes. Students can check the institute website for more details.
