COMEDK UGET 2014 Rank Predictor: How to calculate ranks & scores

Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) conducts the under-graduate entrance test (UGET) to offer admissions to eligible candidates in member institutions of the Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation Trust (KPCF). Through COMEDK UGET 2014, candidates will be offered admissions into 14 medical, 25 dental and more than 150 engineering colleges in the state of Karnataka. There are around 20,000 seats available for admission through COMEDK UGET.

The Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions Act, 2006 is being implemented from the year 2014. As per this Act, there will be only two entrance exams in Karnataka through which candidates can get admitted into professional courses of medicine and engineering. These entrance exams are Karnataka CET (KCET) and the COMEDK UGET.

How to calculate COMEDK UGET 2014 scores

The COMEDK UGET question paper for B.E. consists of 60 questions each from physics, chemistry and mathematics, making the total number of questions to be attempted to be 180. For candidates appearing for both B.E. and MBBS/BDS, 60 questions each will be asked from subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and English.

Candidates seeking admission for Medical / Dental courses will have to satisfy the eligibility norms prescribed by MCI/DCI, besides clearing their eligibility in English. Herein, general merit candidates need to score 50% and SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka need to score 40%, which is mandatory for allocation of rank. However, ranks in COMEDK UGET 2014 will be allotted only on the basis of a candidate’s score in physics, chemistry and biology in the entrance test.

In COMED UGET 2014 there is no negative marking but for every correct answer the candidate will be awarded one mark. However, no marks will be awarded if a candidate ticks multiple answers for a question.

The test scores will be published on the official website of COMEDK UGET 2014 on May 30, 2014.

How to calculate COMEDK UGET 2014 ranks

The final merit/rank list of candidates who have appeared for COMEDK UGET 2014 would be generated on the basis of their score in the entrance test. This final rank list will be published on the official website of COMEDK UGET 2014 on June 4, 2014.

However, candidates who have undertaken the entrance to apply for admission in the medical/dental stream will not be issued a rank if they do not secure 50% marks in their English entrance test in the COMEDK UGET if they are from the general category and 40% marks if they are from the SC/ST or OBC category.

However, if two or more candidates have the same marks/rank then the criteria on the basis of which ranks for such candidates will be determined are:

For admissions into MBBS/BDS programmes

In the event of a tie in test scores, the ranks would be determined on the basis of:

  • Least wrong answers: The candidate with the least wrong answers in biology followed by chemistry and then physics will be given preference over others with the same score.
  • Chemistry & Biology marks: The candidate who has scored higher aggregate marks in chemistry and biology in the entrance test would be considered to have a higher rank.
  • Biology marks: The candidate who has scored higher marks in biology in the entrance test would be considered to have a higher rank.
  • Age: The candidate who is older will be ranked higher than a younger candidate with the same score.

For admissions into B.E./B.Tech programmes

The criteria on the basis on which ranks would be determined for candidates with the same score/rank is:

  • Least wrong answers: The candidate with the least wrong answers in physics followed by mathematics and then chemistry will be given preference over others with the same score.
  • Physics & mathematics marks: The candidate who has scored higher aggregate marks in physics and mathematics in the entrance test would be considered to have a higher rank.
  • Mathematics marks: The candidate who has scored higher marks in mathematics in the entrance test would be considered to have a higher rank.
  • Age: The candidate who is older will be ranked higher than a younger candidate with the same score.

Candidates can obtain their rank cards online on the official website of COMEDK UGET 2014, under no circumstances the rank card would be handed over to the candidate through post/courier/ in-person.

Candidates would need to download and carry a print-out of their online rank card for their counselling round. A point to be noted is that no candidate will be allowed to enter the counselling venue without the print-out of their Online Rank Card.
