Companies that should hire IITians

Considered to be the brightest minds in the country, almost all firms rush in to hire from the reputed Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Speaking broadly, IITians are known to make good software engineers, civil engineers and mechanical engineers. However, owing to their meticulous nature and aptitude to meet strict deadlines they would make good workers in almost any field.

Taking this thought forward, we at Shiksha.com thought of listing some fun job profiles an IITian should consider joining. The roles we chose for IITians are primarily related to the general nature of the job and also the stereotypes related to engineers.

Who: Comedy Collectives

So, comedy collectives from the likes of ‘All India Bakchod’ (AIB) and ‘The Viral Fever’ (TVF) were all over the web this year and we feel that IIT students should consider joining the same or maybe even start a similar venture of their own.

Why: People often make jokes on engineers and engineers are known to take these jokes in very good spirit. So, for people who have been there and survived being the butt of jokes are sure to have a good sense of humour, which is an essential requirement for comedy collectives. Also, IITians are known to mingle with different types of people, given their experience of living in hostels and going for industrial meets. So, they might have some funny incidences of their own to elaborate on.

Who: Celebrities’ Staff

IITians are sure to make the best assistants or personal staff members for celebs. Here they could consider becoming the celeb’s PR agent/manager, assistant, date diary coordinator etc. Because IITians are sure to be good at any task handed over to them.

Why: IITians are good with multitasking. After all, they have been slogging out for four years and are known to be ready for assignment submissions at all hours of the day. So, they are apt when it comes to such a job profile which requires immense coordination and planning.

Who: Police Department

Another ideal place IITians should consider joining is the police department. IITians would be a resource worth appreciating at various levels in the police force of India.

Why: Indian cops may be proactive in solving cases but they are not in-tune with technology and here the skill-set of IITians would prove useful. Who better than an IITian when it comes to working with technology.

Few people we spoke to revealed that in the Internet age, Indian police still uses fax to convey information to people. No wonder they get late in reaching the crime scene. However, with speedy assistance from our tech-friendly IIT friends this aspect can be turned around.

Who: Corporate HR Departments

IITians are sure to make good Human resource (HR) executives. This department would also be happy to house IITians for sure.

Why: The job of HR personnel basically involves managing people and getting things in order and IITians who have lived with people from all walks of life are apt for this profession. Also, having braved the hostel politics for four long years, sorting out office politics would be a challenge worthy of an IITian.

These are some of the professions we would like to propose for IITians, if you have more to contribute to this article then share your views and suggestions in our comments section below.

Its not only about iitians because engineering students in other institutes also put their best efforts in whatever they have asked to do. Why don't we try to evangelize other students as well?
