Facebook offered Rs. 70 lakh package to an IIT-Kanpur student

In the ongoing campus placements, social networking giant, Facebook has offered about Rs 70 lakh per annum package to an IIT-Kanpur student.

In the ongoing campus placements process at IIT-Kanpur, Social networking giant Facebook has offered about Rs 70 lakh per annum package to a student. IIT-K registrar Sanjeev Kashelkar said that Siddharth Agrawal, M Tech (computer science and engineering) student, has been offered the remuneration package of about Rs. 70 lakh.

He also said that so far facebook has offered high packages to other students as well but this one is the highest amongst all packages offered to IIT students. Last week, a similar package has been offered to an IIT-Kharagpur student by facebook. The placement process in the IIT has begun on 2nd December, 2011 with over 950 graduates and post-graduates seeking for jobs in high-profile companies like Microsoft, GE, Infosys and TCS.

On the first day of placement, 15 students were being picked up by Microsoft and more than 100 students were placed on the first day itself. Over 400 students have been placed so far since the placement process began, the registrar said. Around 200 companies are expected to visit the institute to hire aspirants in the coming days. The placement programme would end on December 22.
