First ever THE BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings: Panjab University ahead of IITs
Times Higher Education (THE) BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings has released a list of top universities. As the name suggests, this new series brings out top varsities in BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) along with 17 other “emerging economies”. China emerges at the top of the list with 23 institutes, followed by Taiwan with 21 institutes, India - 10, Turkey - seven, and South Africa and Thailand with five each. No Indian institute made it the list of top ten. Panjab University is ranked at 13 while Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, is at 30. Here’s a look at the top ten universities.
