G. Noida engineer bags Rs 50 lakh salary

Naveen Kumar Goswami, an engineer from Greater Noida bagged a hefty pay packet of Rs 50 lakh per annum from a US-based company. The 23-year-old B.Tech graduate will be posted as a Field Engineer in Helix Energy Systems.
Interested in research and computer science, Naveen is overwhelmed with the offer. He never imagined that he could land up with such a hefty salary package. He has also represented the Southeast Asia region in the International Science Conference 2012, held in Russia.
He scored 58 per cent in his semester exams, but all Indian companies that visited the campus for placements were looking for people with 60-70% marks, Naveen told Hindustan Times. But he did not give up and decided to apply directly on the company's website. He will join the company on July 1 in Texas.
Naveen's family was in financial turmoil after his father's death. Securing the 202nd rank in the Uttar Pradesh State entrance examination (SEE), Naveen got a seat in Galgotia University in second year. He was unable to obtain education loan due to the family's inability to furnish security to the bank. However, his mother arranged for a gold loan to fund his education. Now Naveen is glad that he will be able to get her jewellery back with his first salary.
