Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE 2012, counted amongst the prestigious examination is conducted for Admission to postgraduate programmes on 15 March 2012. Students who clear this will be admitted with MHRD and some other Government scholarships/assistantships in engineering colleges/institutes. Students to avail the scholarship must secure admission to a postgraduate programme according to the standard procedure. However, candidates with Master's degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture may seek admission to relevant Doctoral programmes with scholarship/assistantship without appearing in the GATE 2012 examination. GATE 2012 Results will be declared on 15 March 2012 at 10:00 am.

The list of selected candidates will be declared on the official website of f IITs and IISc. The score card will be valid for a period of two years duration. The students who are selected can also join the interested organizations (educational institutions, R & D laboratories, industries, etc.) in India and abroad based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IIT Delhi and the requesting organization. The results will be made available to the above said institutes on payment basis. There is no provision for issue of Additional GATE scorecard.
