GATE deadline for online application extended!

Time limit for GATE extended!

The deadline for applying for the GATE exam has been extended to October 21 instead of October 17. With the application process going online this year onwards, there have been various problems in the online links. Copious candidates applying this year complained that the online links were dysfunctional for the past 5 days due to which they could not apply for the exam. TOI had highlighted the concern on Friday following which the decision to extend the deadline was taken.

There is an unprecedented rush to apply for GATE 2012. Due to this, students might face reduced access speeds. Candidates are required to maintain their calm and keep trying again. Various students said that they had been preparing for the exam for the last 2 years and will lose their year if they fail to access the online link. Thus in this concern, TOI decided to extend the date of online application to October 21 and the last date for the receipt of printed version of online application at the respective zonal GATE office is now set at October 28. While the online exam is scheduled for January 29, 2012, the offline exam will be held on February 12.

GATE, an abbreviation for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India.

Admissions to the MTech course will be open from March 15 to July next year. GATE results will be announced on March 15, 2012.
