Google offers $100,000 to ISI Kolkata student; Highest package in ISI history

An M.Tech final year student from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, has attracted a whopping $100,000 (Rs 62.7 lakh) package from Google US. This is not only the first international placement in 82 years of ISI’s history but also the highest package offered so far, said the placement committee while speaking to a Shiksha correspondent.

The next highest offer (domestic) of Rs 30 Lakh came from Goldman Sachs, who had made the highest offer of Rs 28 lakh last year. The student receiving this Rs 30 Lakh offer also bagged a Rs 20 lakh offer from Microsoft India. Some of the leading firms making placement offers at ISI this year are Microsoft, HSBC, Morgan Stanley, ICICI Bank, and Axis bank.

According to MTech (CS) student Sayantan Sarkar, “Unlike IITs and other engineering colleges, placements are a year-long affair at ISI. The actual picture will become clear post December.”

ISI has 100 students in Kolkata besides branches in Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi.

Google has also offered Rs 93 lakh pa to a DTU student, Rs 84.6 lakh to an NIT Warangal student.
